Renovated in autumn 2010, this cozy lodge is located next to the sandy beach and next to a little tropical forest, home of the red Colobus monkeys, which gave the lodge its name. In front of the red monkey lodge is a two kilometer long sand bank, which reaches from the beach deep into the water and about two kilometers off the coast, a coral reef is located where you can find best diving conditions. The lodge consists of seven one storied bungalows (nine rooms) with traditional Makuti (palm tree) roofs, a restaurant, a dhow bar, a kite and boarding center and a beach chill-out area with deck chairs and parasols. Our opinion: simple and elegantly furnished you are not able to find any mass tourism here. The island, its inhabitants and the ocean are in the foreground and generate a barefoot feeling.
